Soil Mixes That Truly Understand Your Plants Not all soil mixes are...
€0,00 EUR
Worm castings are the ultimate upgrade for your potting mix. This chemical-free, natural plant food delivers a steady stream of nutrients and living microbes to your soil, helping your houseplants grow stronger, bigger, and more resilient. At Sybotanica, we source ultra-fresh, nutrient-dense worm castings that sometimes still include a few live worms—don’t worry, they’re completely harmless and just proof of freshness!
Unlike synthetic fertilisers that give a nutrient spike and crash, worm castings provide slow release nutrients through microbial processes. This not only feeds your plants but also builds a healthier, more active soil ecosystem.
Rich in minerals, enzymes, and organic matter, worm castings offer a more refined, stable nutrient profile than standard compost. They serve as a dual-action soil amendment: enriching your mix while actively supporting microbial activity. Worm castings improve soil structure, increase water retention, and help roots access nutrients more effectively.
This earthworm humus not only feeds your plants—it transforms your soil into a living, breathing support system for sustained growth.
Bonus tip: adding lava gravel will help with micronutrient release and acts as a super combo with this product.
Worm castings are teeming with microbial life that fuels the natural nutrient exchange in soil. These microbes play a key role in breaking down organic material, unlocking micronutrients, and improving nutrient uptake. As a root growth booster, this enriched medium helps plants absorb exactly what they need, when they need it—leading to healthier leaves, stronger stems, and more vibrant growth.
Whether you’re mixing your own potting blend or enriching your existing substrate, worm castings integrate seamlessly as a potting mix additive or top dressing.
Chemical fertilisers flood the soil with nutrients, but they’re often washed away during watering and can stress plant roots over time. In contrast, worm castings maintain a steady nutrient supply and resist nutrient loss through leaching. They work in harmony with your plant’s natural growth cycle, supporting steady development without the risk of overfeeding.
You won’t find strong smells, salts, or synthetic ingredients here—just a clean, odorless fertiliser packed with nature’s best.
At Sybotanica, we believe healthy soil leads to happy plants. That’s why we include worm castings in many of our SYBASoil blends, developed to match the unique needs of 16 plant families. These nutrient rich compost granules are the backbone of many thriving houseplants across Europe, and they’re a perfect fit for anyone creating their own mix at home.
From beginners to soil nerds, anyone can benefit from this sustainable fertiliser. Use it for propagation, potting, or simply to refresh tired soil. However you apply it, worm castings provide the building blocks for vibrant, long-lasting plant health!

Can worm castings be used year-round for fertilizing?
Worm castings is a natural, complete fertiliser for your plants. It is the perfect replacement for chemical fertilizers, which can often burn your plant's roots due to their high concentration of minerals and salts.
Unlike liquid fertilizers, worm castings can be applied throughout the year without the risk of burn!
Is worm castings safe for my animals / children
Worm castings is a natural product and completely safe for animals, for example in a terrarium. However we do not recommend eating it, and keep it out of reach of children (yes, we have gotten this question before..)
What do we feed the worms?
Since worm castings are, quite literally, worm poop, it is common sense that feeding the worms high-quality food results in high-quality castings!
Organic dead plant matter, food waste, kitchen scraps, or other yard waste form the majority of the worms' diet.
Why choose worm castings over compost?
Though these products are similar, there are a few significant differences between compost and worm castings.
Worm castings exclusively consist of worm manure, while compost (while sometimes also containing worm castings) also contains lots of other decomposing plant waste and organisms.
The reason we prefer worm castings over compost is that it is a much more concentrated source of essential nutrients. Compost is also usually a lot more heavy and allows for little airflow, where worm castings has a better structure.
It also contains a much more versatile range of microorganisms, which are highly beneficial for plant health.

Why Worm Castings for your plants?
natural slow-release fertiliser full of essential nutrients and micro organisms
Add 10-30% to your SYBASoil mix as a slow-release fertiliser
Almost all houseplants
Unsterilized amazingly fresh worm castings, nutrient rich and packed with beneficial microbes.
Unlike most worm castings that is sterilized (this kills most of the beneficial microbes) this one is full of them.
Consistent and dark texture, with a hazelnut like smell.
Our Worm Castings comes from a local Dutch farmer. Their worms' diet consists mainly of chicken feed and other biowaste. This diet is approved for organic farming in The Netherlands (from where we ship).
Most farms feed their worms (imported) paper pulp. Despite the sizable price gap (up to 2.5x as expensive), we stand by our choice of organically-fed worm castings.
The main reason for this is the environmental impact.
Judging from our tests, there is not that much of a difference in quality, which is why most farms choose to use paper pulp.
The species of worms used are the Dendrobaena Veneta, Eisenia Hortensis & Eisenia Fetida, also known as Tiger worms. Don't worry, they don't bite!
